In parallel with Quicksilver Forums 1.4.0, QSFP 1.4.0 is now available.
Highlights include a brand new skin, better handling of password restrictions at registration, tightened guest controls, and plenty of bugfixes and other enhancements.
There is also one significant XSS vulnerability that was corrected in the last post box.
Users of the default skins should also be careful when updating.
The new skin calls for upgrades to ALL of the templates used by the system. If you are still using the stock default skin named "QSF Comet Portal" and it is still stored in the "default" directory, be aware that any customizations you intend to keep will be overwritten if you don't take action to prevent it.
Either renaming the skin or the directory it's stored in will prevent loss of customization. If you have none, then you need not worry about this.
Changes for 1.4.0:
* New default skin based on Syridium HForum v3 skin © 2006-2007 Syridium SC.
* Fixed the 0.png to be a single transparent pixel.
* Changed template color change can be difficult or impossible to see on LCD monitors.
* Limit the maximum size of fonts in posts.
* Unnecessary password restrictions removed.
* Added "Last Updated" field to the file displays.
* Added file category select box for navigation aid.
* Safety checks to prevent blocking access to the portal.
* Added code to adjust parent category counts when needed.
Bugs addressed:
* Proper bbcode fix for the [root] tags which was only band-aided before.
* Upgrade installer did not add new templates to skins.
* Banning a user does not cancel subscriptions.
* No HTML formatting on category/forum names.
* Undefined offset in error handler.
* Subscriptions still active if moved into a private forum. - Jon
* IIS does not use $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'] the same way Apache does. - Jon
* Attachments to news posts do not produce a link in the text.
* File description is not formatted properly when editing a file entry.
* Recent posts listing did not check board_view permissions.

Sounds like a bunch of good changes, Samson, I'm downloading a copy now to see how the upgrade process will go.

.... I like the old skin better, no offence (visually). So how can I keep that?

We'd discussed that here

You would be in the minority on that opinion.
